About ETR-Unidata’s Dust & Water Environmental Monitoring Systems

Based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, with over 20 years experience in stack emissions monitoring equipment for regulatory compliance and improved process control, environmental monitoring systems and water and effluent sensors

ETR-UNIDATA PARTICULATE MONITORS

The stack emissions monitoring instruments are used for regulatory compliance, process optimization, and process control.

REGULATORY COMPLIANCE

  • Omicron II, an indicative particulate monitor using tribo-electric technology
  • Sigma II, a quantitative particulate monitor also based on tribo-electric technology
  • Zeta 5000, a top of the range quantitative stack emissions monitoring instrument using patent protected optical back scatter technology and designed to exceed the performance requirements for particulate monitors irequired by European Union Governments as encapsulated in European Standard EN 14181. Zeta´s performance provides operators with the comfort that their particulate monitoring is of the highest possible standard, and with a demonstration of unequalled corporate responsibility.

PROCESS OPTIMISATION

  • FilterMonitor capitalizes on the unequalled sensitivity of the Zeta 5000 particulate monitor with filter monitor performance software which allows optimization of bag house operations and maintenance, with associated cost savings.
  • Epsilon´s unique patent protected technology using scanning lasers and tomographic techniques is the only particulate monitor available which can detect the passage of particulates across a complete cross-section of the duct/stack (all other particulate monitor technologies rely on sampling the gas passing up the stack). With Epsilon, gas turbine operators can reduce their down-time and minimise the decline in plant capacity over time, as dust builds up on the fan.

PROCESS CONTROL

  • Omicron II is typically employed as an alarm system to monitor trends in particulate emissions levels.

UNIDATA INSTRUMENTS

Unidata Pty Ltd is an associate company of ETR-Unidata, controlled by NIWA (National Institute for Water & Atmospheric Research LTD), a New Zealand company owned by the New Zealand Government which provides environmental management services to New Zealand and international clients. Through its 50% shareholding in EcoConnect, with the U.K. Government´s Meteorological Office, NIWA is developing the ability to forecast weather, wind, rainfall and river flow for up to 48 hours ahead.

Unidata´s focus is the supply of Environmental Monitoring Systems:

  • Weather Monitoring
  • Evaporation Monitoring
  • Soil Moisture Monitoring

and Water Monitoring Systems:

  • Water Level Monitoring
  • Hydrostatic Water Depth Monitoring
  • Water Quality Monitoring
  • Water Flow Monitoring

employing an extensive product range, which is marketed throughout the world under the Starlog and Starflow brand names, and including:

  • dataloggers
  • level and depth recorders
  • flowmeters
  • salimity recorders
  • evaporation recorders
  • temperature probes
  • rainfall gauges
  • integrated weather stations

The instruments are used in such diverse fields as water, sewerage, drainage management, environmental monitoring, energy research, agriculture, forestry and fishery management, and gas and electricity metering. They are battery powered and ideally suited to remote installations and long-term unattended data collection, being designed for low power operation, and to provide value for money.
