SIGMA II - CONTINUOUS EMISSIONS MONITORING
The Sigma II is a tribo-electric continuous emissions monitor with logging and alarm capability
The Sigma II uses tribo-electric technology. It consists of a single probe for installation in the silo or duct, and a control unit/logger
When to Choose Sigma
The Sigma II is a tribo-electric stack emissions monitor. The technology is suitable for continuous emissions monitoring where the gas stream is:
- relatively moisture free
- at a temperature less than 250ºC (600ºC with the special insulation of the Sigma II(T)
- homogeneous, with minimal variations in velocity or particulate size and composition
- the electrical noise is low
It is not suited as a stack emissions monitor in large ducts, where its perimeter-based installation would create the risk of biased sampling, or where electro-static precipitators are in use as dust arrestment plant.
Key Product Features
- Continuous real-time particulate monitoring
- Quantitative output in mg/M3
- Instantaneous and two user-defined averaged outputs for process control and environmental compliance
- In-Built Operating Diagnostics
- High Sensitivity
- Quick and easy single point installation with no moving parts
- Low capital and maintenance costs
- Bright back-lit alphanumeric LCD display
- Detection range from 1-1,000mg/m3
- Minimum detection limit less than 1mg/m3
- Zero and span checks to maintain calibration/compensate for drift
- Built-in datalogger to provide a permanent continuous log (date, time and duration) of emissions levels and alarms
- Memory download to PC via USB
- 4-20mA continuous output for connection to remote data collection
- Common alarm for system failure
When installed in conjunction with a data acquisition system, Sigma II will also generate automatic reports for the regulatory authorities.
Typical Applications
Typical applications include:
- Cement Plants and Silos
- Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metal Foundries
- Animal Feed Plants
- Timber Processing
- Chemical Processing
The Sigma II(T) should be used in:
- Food Manufacturing
- Pharmaceutical Manufacturing
- Tobacco Processing
The Sigma II is not appropriate where the particulate is sticky or highly conductive.
Remote Data Acquisition
The Sigma II series provides for the installation of a remote data acquisition system, if either:
- a permanent continuous log of emissions is required without the need to download, or
- real on-time graphic display of emissions levels is needed in a remote control room
Warranty
Unidata provides a full (parts and labour) warranty of the Sigma II for a twelve month period from date of installation, with a response time of five working days.
The Sigma II (T)
The Sigma II (T) has been designed to tolerate temperatures up to 600ºC, but otherwise shares the specificationof the basic Sigma II.
The Sigma II was designed to meet the performance requirements for continuous emissions monitoring incorporated in MCERTS Version 2 (April 2003), the “fit for purpose” certification regime established by the UK Government, and to qualify for TUV certification (in particular BlmSchV 13 (for incinerators).
